The Celtic Shop
Ceramic & Pottery

We carry several very interesting lines of ceramic and pottery ware, all originating in Ireland or Scotland.

One of the most famous of the "high art" of china wares is the Belleek Company
of Belleek, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.
Since 1857, Belleek fine Parian China has been internationally known for the quality of its porcelain
and the hand-made decorations upon it.
Parian china from Belleek combines a delicate ivory, translucent tint with egg-shell delicacy.
See our examples in the table below.
And it is quite sturdy and serviceable for high tea or daily use, in spite of all its seeming delicacy.
We stock and can procure any and all styles and pieces of Belleek presently being made.
For antique pieces of Belleek, please contact an art dealer, as these are heirlooms.

Nicholas Mosse Pottery, of Bennettsbridge, County Kilkenny, Ireland, is known worldwide for its spongeware pottery.
Its artists specialise in hand thrown and hand painted "rustic" dishware and other pieces
featuring delightful and whimsical images on sturdy, serviceable pottery.
Less well known is the fact that the facility is powered by water from the nearby river,
making it both a unique and "green" business.
Pieces are typically hand made in lots after order, and shipping is now ex works to hasten delivery.
We will carry some pieces, and are willing to order any others per your needs and wishes. Contact us for your special orders.

Nicholas Mosse Pottery
From the sublime parian china of Belleek, to the whimsical and rustic delights of Nicholas Mosse,
we have covered the full spectrum of the beauty available in Irish ceramic wares.
Mosse pottery looks like the best spongeware pottery from home potters, but its attention to detail leads to a consistency of size, proportion and artwork that rivals the best china makers. This is both keepsake, and everyday pottery. Enjoy.
Note: The repetitive themes, such as Clematis, Old Rose and other florals, are slightly less expensive than the "scenes" or "animal" designs.

Clematis Series A wonderful design, deep purple clematis is the theme. Available in all pieces.
Old Rose Series A very stylised Rose of the antique or wild variety, for that old-fashioned touch.
Holly Series A wonderful design to bring out for your Christmas decorating. Also available "Reindeer" "Winter Wreath" and "Poinsettia" not shown.
Horse One of the most popular "animal designs". A must have for the equestrian on your list.
Sheep What is more Irish than sheep? A blackfoot woolly spring ewe frolics here.
Dog Who doesn't love dogs, and this hound is beguiling.
Cat Cats are a ubiquitous creature in the countryside, and these farm cats are delightful.
Chicken Chickens are at home on the farm - and on these pieces, seen here strutting about.
Clematis, Square A line of the Clematis in square platter, and larger bowls for serving and display.
Old Rose, Square Like the Clematis above, a square line for special events.

Feel free to contact us for other designs - we have displayed only a few of these wondrous and delightful pieces.
Pricing for individual pieces follows.
Note: "scenes" and "animal" designs average $5-10 (more labour than "floral" or "repetitive" designs.)
Not all designs will be made in all pieces, so we will contact you if there are any issues with your order.
